New Delhi, August 17, 2019 : The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is sending a strong Indian contingent of 48 members participating in the upcoming WorldSkills International Competition 2019 to be held in Kazan, Russia from August 22 – 27, 2019. They will compete in 44 skills including mobile robotics, prototype modelling, hairdressing, baking, confectionary & patisserie, welding, brick laying, car painting, floristry among others.
Also known as the ‘Olympics for Skills’, the biennial event attracts more than 1600 competitors from over 60 countries to display their prowess in different skills and trades.
These young talented bunch who have come from different parts of the country and from variegated backgrounds have their own stories of struggle and success.
Ms Thasleem Mohideen (Health and Social Care) from Chennai said ” We aim at improving the quality of health care in India giving them better education, better care which can prevent many diseases and less mortality in our country. Health care in India is the best with the help of National Skill Development Corporation. We got an opportunity to represent our country to prove that we are the best.”
Sumanth S.C. (Mechatronics) from Karnataka said “I never even dream that I will represent India but I got a big opportunity to represent in Worldskill International Competition. Automations are meant for European countries and we Indians are not behind in this field. After 10 years we will match with them in the automation industry.”
Xenophon Das (M-CAD) from Orissa said “I am competing with myself and with my last performance. I am proud that I am representing India which is high level of things. I will take it to the world level.”
